I am a Commissioner for Oaths appointed by the Chief Justice to administer oaths, affirmations, and statutory declarations for legal and personal matters.
My office is in Ballyshannon, and appointments are available weekdays and some evenings by prior arrangement.

Fees
The fees a Commissioner for Oaths can charge are given in the Rules of the Superior Courts (Fees payable to Commissioners for Oaths) (SI 616 of 2003). There is a standard fee of β¬10 euro per signature for verifying statements. If there is an exhibit, for example a marriage certificate, attached to the document that needs to be signed, there is a β¬2 charge for that. You are advised to check charges in advance.

I was appointed by Donal O’Donnell, the Chief Justice of Ireland in the Supreme Court as a Commissioner for Oaths on 26th November 2025. As required by law, I act independently and do not advise on the content of any document. My responsibility is to verify identity, ensure formalities are followed, and witness signatures in accordance with statutory requirements.

2. Do I need to make an appointment?
Yes. All visits are by appointment only to ensure adequate time for each client and to confirm the necessary documents in advance.
3. How much does it cost?
Fees are fixed by law under Rules of the Superior Courts.
Typically:
- β¬10 for each document sworn or declared or certified
- β¬2 for each exhibit or attachment
4. What should I bring?
Please bring:
- The unsigned document to be sworn or declared
- Valid photo ID
- Any other documents referred to in the declaration or affidavit
